Reverse brainstorming generates solutions to criticisms for alternatives. This is done by listing all criticisms and solving these criticisms with new alternatives.

Executing the Method

  • List Criticisms

    For a smaller number of ideas, list all the criticisms per idea (in the example format above).

  • Generate Solutions

    Generate solutions for each of these criticisms.

  • Compare Criticisms and Solutions

    Compare and possibly discuss the criticisms and solutions.

  • Select Alternative

    A good rule for selecting is to select the alternative idea for which most criticisms could be solved.
